Undergraduate Student
Sophia is a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Science. She is passionate about advancing sustainable energy and aerospace technologies through innovative engineering solutions. Outside of academics, Sophia enjoys spending time outdoors, experimenting with new recipes, and traveling. She is also part of the Columbia Women's Fencing Team.
Sophia is currently involved in the Pellets at Columbia (PAC) group under the guidance of Eliot Felske and Professor Paz Soldan. The research is focused on studying pellet ablation rates using high-speed imaging and microwave cavity resonance techniques to mitigate disruptions and fuel tokamaks.
