REU Student
Roshan Mehta is a student at the University of Rochester, pursuing a major in Physics, Astronomy, and Mathematics. He will be conducting research with Michael Hahn, analyzing data from NASA’s PUNCH solar satellite. His work focuses on studying Alfvén waves in the solar wind to better understand their role in heating the Sun’s corona to unexpectedly high temperatures. Specifically, he will investigate density fluctuations around the Sun to characterize wave amplitudes and compare his findings with radio measurements and data from the Parker Solar Probe.
