Nigel joined the plasma lab in Fall 2021 after completing a BS in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He now works in the HBT research group, studying the effects that the runaway electron mitigation coil has on hard X-ray distributions and plasma dynamics. Outside of the lab, Nigel is very active in the Naginata (a Japanese martial art) community, where he competes at national events for the New York region, and serves as Vice President of the national organization.
