Meg Fairborn

Graduate Student

Meg joined Columbia University's APAM department as an NSF GRFP fellow in the summer of 2025, after earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from Whitworth University. She completed two SULI internships at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory: the first focused on using a grid-free Monte Carlo method to compute heat transport in stellarators, and the second explored leveraging quantum computers to improve atomic data for fusion reactions. Beyond her research, Meg enjoys crafting homemade ice cream and has created more than 200 unique flavors.

Research Focus: Currently, Meg is working with Dr. Nikolas Logan, modeling 3D MHD tokamak stability and perturbed equilibrium.
