George is a PhD student at the Columbia Plasma Physics Laboratory. Unintentionally following the footsteps of Oppenheimer, he completed his bachelor's in theoretical physics at Imperial College London, his master's in scientific computing at the University of Cambridge, and spent a year developing magnetohydrodynamic simulations (the JOREK code) at the Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics in Munich, Germany before finally arriving in America. He also has experience working with private fusion companies, having completed his master's thesis in collaboration with Tokamak Energy Ltd., developing computationally efficient simulations of partially-ionized plasmas, and also spent a summer in Oxford working on inertial fusion with First Light Fusion Ltd. Outside of research, George enjoys exercising, reading, watching movies and TV shows, having a good debate about humanities subjects, and most of all exploring and traveling.
Research focus (Preemptive):
Extended MHD Simulations, hybrid fluid-kinetic simulations, multi-species simulations of ELMs, detachment, and benign runaway electron termination.
