Chirag Khurana
Chirag joined the APAM department in Fall 2024 as a master’s student in Applied Physics. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University - New Brunswick, majoring in Aerospace Engineering and Physics. Prior to entering the fusion field, he interned at NASA JPL and Marshall Space Flight Center working on EDL simulations for the new Mars Sample Return Lander and computational modeling for a nuclear thermal propulsion system. He recently interned at Thea Engineering on the Magnet Engineering team, where he designed and built a magnetic field measurement system. Currently, he is on the Physics team for Thea where he works on fusion neutronics and radiation damage modeling. His current research at the lab involves assisting the design of a vacuum-sieve-tray tritium extraction experiment for future fusion blankets.
